Launch Event and Supporters Lunch

The Christians Against Poverty debt counselling Centre is to be launched on Sunday 28th November at Holy Trinity Church. Please come along and celebrate the launch of this important initiative with us either during our normal morning worship at 10.30am, or for a special shorter service at 3pm.
There will also be a lunch from 12.30 – 2.30pm.

To register for a lunch ticket, please fill in the form on our Supporters Lunch Page. Tickets will be sent out, by e-mail, in the week before the 28th. Payment will be on the door. The price will be to cover the meal (with a small contingency). The meal is not a fund raising event.

Centre Name

On Tuesday 12 October I agreed our centre name with CAP. To avoid people feeling that they were not able to approach our centre, CAP have asked us to have an inclusive name.

The name that we have chosen is Midlands - National Forest.

In practice we will cover the following post codes

DE11 Swadlincote / Hartshorne
LE65 Ashby and District
LE67 Coalville
DE73 Melbourne / Kings Newton / Barrow on Trent
DE74 Castle Donington / East Mid airport area
DE12 Overseal up Walton on Trent

This area is roughly a 10 mile circle around Ashby de la Zouch.

What a great few days

On Monday I went to CAP HQ in Bradford. The purpose of my visit was to be interviewed by CAP for the centre manager post at CAP in Ashby. I had the most amazing day seeing the great team behind the scenes that do all background work for clients in debt. I was blown away by the love and care shown by CAP. The work of God through this organisation is just second to none.
I received a phone call this afternoon from Helen at CAP to say that I had been appointed to the position of Centre Manager for the centre in Ashby. I am over the moon. I danced around the office at work when I was told the news. God is so good.

Leave of Absence

The work of Christians Against Poverty at Holy Trinity, on behalf of the Ashby Churches, received a boost this week when the Head teacher and Chair of Governors of George Spencer Academy and Technology College in Nottingham, granted a leave of Absense to Lisa Noon. Lisa is our Candidate for CAP Centre Manager and teaches three days a week at the school. The schools generous decision in allowing Lisa time to train as our centre manager means that we can press ahead with our goal of opening the Centre in Ashby de la Zouch before the end of the year. We greatly appreciate the school taking into consideration the special circumstances of Lisa leave of absence and the significant benefit that we foresee her training having on our community.
